Go Braves!

One of the highlights of our Fourth of July weekend was taking Violet to her very first Braves game!

My best attempt at a self-snapped family portrait. I kept cutting our heads off on one side or the other. Violet had obviously had enough.

I wasn't sure how it would all go down, but let me tell you, this girl is a Braves fan! We decided to take the stroller just to make the walk from the car a little easier. Obviously you can't take the stroller into the seats, but the guest relations people were really nice and made it easy to check the thing in at the entrance. 

Our seats were perfect, as in, in the shade. And thanks to a break in the heat wave, it was actually really comfortable outside. I was all prepared with a hand-held, water-squirting fan to cool us off, but I really didn't need it. Violet was happy as a clam to sit on our laps and watch the game. In fact, for the first hour, all she did was look around with mouth a-gaping.

There was certainly a lot to see. She got a bottle before things got too distracting, didn't seem bothered at all by the fighter jet fly-over, and spent the majority of the time flirting with the people behind us (even if she did get mistaken for a boy in her onesie). I had a pink bow for her hair to stave off that very problem, but it was too annoying to keep on her.

Feeling patriotic...

Violet fell asleep on Grandma's lap while Matt and I rustled up some food (I went all-American with a corndog, yum!) All in all, she lasted until the eighth inning just fine. At that point, she started getting a little tired and the game started heating up, and sleepy baby plus loud crowds are not a good combination (remember graduation?) So we took her downstairs intending to get the stroller, but once there, things were quieter and we hung around and watched the end of the inning. Once in her stroller, she passed out before we were even out of the ballpark. Pretty perfect, if you ask me. So good, in fact, I would totally do it again, as long as we brought some friends along as reinforcements. Any takers?!
